Figures show an estimated 22.2 million people are now in need of humanitarian food aid to avoid starvation.
Families and communities are torn apart and left without even basic food essentials. The approximately 8.4 million people who are worst affected, don’t know where they’re going to get their next meal from and around 2 million people are left displaced by conflict.
If the condition continues to worsen in Yemen, an extra 5.6 million people may well be suffering from famine within the coming months, causing the number of individuals with acute need of food to rise to 14 million.
Through our crisis food appeals, we’re working to save many lives across Yemen. Mercy Relief is distributing food aid across areas most in need, especially areas cut off from regular food supplies.
