Fidya & Kafarrah

Fidya & Kafarrah

"O you who believe, fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, that you may develop God-consciousness." (Quran 2:183).

Fasting is one of the five pillars of Islam and is obligatory for all mentally sound and capable Muslims to observe during the holy month of Ramadan. If you are unable to fast or intentionally break your fast, then you must compensate by providing food for the poor or vulnerable during Ramadan.

Fidya

If you are unable to fast for a valid reason such as illness, pregnancy, breastfeeding, or travel, then you must make up for it by paying Fidya for each missed day.

Fulfill your obligation and donate your Fidya with us today.

£5 Fidya for 1 day - We will provide iftar and suhoor meals for a fasting person.

£150 Fidya for 1 month - If you are unable to fast for the entire month due to pregnancy, old age, or chronic illness, you must pay Fidya for the month to ensure that you fulfill your obligation.

Kaffarah

Kaffarah is the compensation one pays for deliberately breaking or missing a fast without a valid reason.

The penalty for this is high because fasting is mandatory for all capable Muslims. For each missed day, you must fast for 60 consecutive days or provide an iftar meal to 60 poor or vulnerable individuals.

£300 Kaffarah - Provide an iftar meal to 60 poor individuals for each day of fasting missed.
